The Basic Economic Development Course (BEDC) focuses on the fundamental concepts, tools and skills needed to be successful in today’s political, economic and business environment. The BEDC will provide the participant with a comprehensive understanding of the keys of successful economic development. For those new to the profession, the BEDC is the first step toward professional certification by the IEDC. This Course also has AICP Accreditation.
FEDC is proud to announce that we will be awarding three scholarships for the USF 38th Annual Basic Economic Development Course (BEDC), November 3-6, 2014 in Tampa. If you are interested in advancing your career in economic development or if you are going to become certified, this is a great opportunity and is a required element to qualify for the International Economic Development Council’s Certification (CEcD) exam. The scholarships, each valued at $655, will cover registration fees only and will provide entrance to these 4 days of training. Complete the 2014 Mickie Birdsall Scholarshp Application and return to Amy Evancho no later than Friday, October 3rd at 5PM. The review committee will notify you by Friday, October 10th if you have been awarded a scholarship.
This course is accredited by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). The BEDC is a 4-day course and each registrant is required to attend all modules of the course in order to receive a completion certificate. This course qualifies as a professional development training requirement needed to sit for the Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) examination. AICP is the American Planning Association’s professional institute, providing recognized leadership nationwide in the certification of professional planners, ethics, professional development, planning education, and the standards of planning practice.
