The Florida Economic Development Council will begin the 2015 Florida Economic Development Conference in Orlando, with Bill Johnson, Florida Secretary of Commerce and President & CEO of Enterprise Florida, addressing economic developers from around the state at the opening Plenary. The conference will be held July 13-15 at the Walt Disney Swan Hotel and highlights the pioneers, leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, and catalysts that will drive Florida’s economic future. Florida Power & Light Company is the presenting sponsor for the event. To register for the event and to see the full conference agenda, log on to www.fedcconference.com.
Governor Scott recently appointed Bill Johnson to head Enterprise Florida and serve as Secretary of Commerce, following a 35-year career with Miami-Dade County government. During his tenure with Miami-Dade, he served in a number of executive positions including eight years as Director of Port Miami and as Assistant County Manager with oversight of Miami International Airport.
“The caliber of speakers assembled for the 2015 conference underscores the theme, Florida Leading the Way. This is the one time of year our professionals gather to reflect, reset and engage economic development leadership, CEOs of announced projects, site consultants and new technologies. We are constantly seeking innovative ways to help our communities grow and prosper through quality job creation and capital investment,” said Tammie Nemecek, Director, GrowFL and Conference Committee Chair.
Recently, FEDC marked 50 years of developing the brightest economic development professionals and equipping them with sound policy and effective programs. This year’s conference will set the stage for a renewed focus on the tools and resources necessary to develop Florida’s future economic leaders.
