Florida’s Economic Gardening Program Harvests Success for Growing Businesses Florida’s investment in the tested strategy of “economic gardening” has made an incredible impact in job creation this year. Established in late 2009, the Florida Economic Gardening Institute and its GrowFL program have helped hundreds of second-stage companies across the state create a reported 418 jobs in the program’s first year. Thanks to a partnership with the FEDC and other statewide organizations, the GrowFL program has provided businesses throughout the state with the tools they need to grow and succeed.
Through its specialized program of Technical Assistance, CEO roundtables, CEO forums and referral networks, GrowFL drove 1,309 encounters with CEOs of second-stage companies in support of each company’s unique business objectives. The Technical Assistance program has provided companies with a host of services including core strategy review, market research, competitive intelligence, Internet marketing strategy and search engine optimization, social media strategy and Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
There is no better time to help businesses in your area. Economic development organizations are encouraged to invite their local businesses to apply for the GrowFL program as it begins its second year. Many FEDC member organizations have taken advantage of this statewide program as a way to expand their toolkit of offerings to client companies.
GrowFL staff members can provide educational and promotional resources to help your organization reach growth-oriented, second-stage businesses in your area.
