Stuart, FL – (May 5, 2014): The Business Development Board of Martin County (BDBMC) is pleased to announce that Fresh Shrimp USA has purchased 40 acres of land in Indiantown. The company has begun preparing the site for its operation and plans to hire employees in phases as the structures are built.
Fresh Shrimp USA uses a unique water aquaculture system that will be housed within enclosed facilities. The company’s process maintains a perfect growing condition all year round as opposed to open-air facilities that are seasonal. Fresh Shrimp USA’s system eliminates the need for harmful chemicals and reduces any risks from weather, bird predation and harmful pollutants.
“We began working with the company’s leadership several years ago on site location” said Tim Dougher, Executive Director, BDBMC. “This is a wonderful project for Indiantown and I’m thrilled to see it come to fruition” Dougher said.
“We had several sites in mind throughout the site selection process” said Rafael Zelaya, a principle with Fresh Shrimp USA. “Indiantown allowed us the opportunity for increased acreage with plans for future expansion” Zelaya said.
