This week proved to be a letdown for Enterprise Zones. We were hopeful that a Committee Bill would come out of Senate Finance and Tax since there was going to be a discussion. Lawmakers Seek To Revamp Florida’s Jobs Incentive Programs
State lawmakers are demanding sweeping changes to the taxpayer-funded programs that Gov. Rick Scott uses to attract jobs to Florida, citing the need for more openness and better accountability. February 2015 Employment Figures Released
Florida’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for February 2015 was 5.6 percent. This represented 548,000 jobless out of a labor force of 9,702,000. The unemployment rate was down 0.9 percentage point from the February 2014 rate of 6.5 percent. It was the 55th consecutive month of over-the-year declines in Florida’s unemployment rate. Walton Among Fastest Growing Counties
Walton County was the third fastest growing county in Florida from 2013 to 2014, according to a report issued Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau. The new data provides population growth by percentage across the state. Sumter County posted the largest gains with a 5.2 percent increase in its population while St. Johns County was second with a 4 percent jump. Pasco County is seeking to lure more tourists beyond young athletes and nature lovers, and the courted audience could include people with bad hearts and poor eyesight.
