Florida Department of Health COVID-19 Community Action Survey
The Florida Department of Health (DOH) announced the launch of a new community action survey, StrongerThanC-19, designed to aid Florida as the state continues to fight the spread of COVID-19. This cutting-edge tool gives residents the power to unite in the fight to help slow the spread of coronavirus in Florida.
Business Damage Assessment Survey for Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Governor Ron DeSantis has announced the activation of the Business Damage Assessment survey to assess the impact of COVID-19 on Florida’s local business operations. The survey, managed by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), will evaluate businesses affected by COVID-19 and the impacts the virus has had on the local economy so actions to implement appropriate relief programs can begin.
Paycheck Protection Program
The Paycheck Protection Program prioritizes millions of Americans employed by small businesses by authorizing up to $349 billion toward job retention and certain other expenses.
Florida DEO Emergency Bridge Loan Program for Small Businesses Impacted by COVID-19
The Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program is currently available to small business owners located in all Florida counties statewide that experienced economic damage as a result of COVID-19.
These short-term, interest-free working capital loans are intended to “bridge the gap” between the time a major catastrophe hits and when a business has secured longer-term recovery resources, such as sufficient profits from a revived business, receipt of payments on insurance claims or federal disaster assistance.
SBA Disaster Assistance Loans Available for Florida Small Businesses Impacted by COVID-19
For small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private nonprofit organizations, the SBA is offering Economic Injury Disaster Loans to help meet working capital needs caused by the coronavirus.
All 67 Florida counties are included in the disaster declaration.
Small Business Technical Assistance
Florida SBDC disaster specialists can assist small businesses in developing a preparedness plan and with other strategies to safeguard their employees and customers, and ensure the continued operation of their business.
Upon activation of disaster assistance loan programs, Florida SBDC business consultants, many of whom are Disaster Recovery Institute (DRI) Certified Business Continuity Professionals, will be available to assist small businesses to prepare disaster loan applications and with other post-disaster challenges at no-cost.

The guide lists Federal Programs that can help rural communities, organizations, and residents Impacted by COVID-19.
Disaster Unemployment Assistance
Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA), administered by the Florida DEO, provides assistance to individuals whose employment has been either lost or interrupted as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Short-Time Compensation Program For Employers
The Short-Time Compensation program helps employers retain their workforce in times of temporary slowdown by encouraging work sharing as an alternative to layoff.
The program permits prorated reemployment assistance benefits to employees whose work hours and earnings are reduced as part of a Short Time Compensation plan to avoid total layoff of some employees.
GIS WebTech COVID-19 Impact Planning Reports
These reports are free to FEDC members. They do not include infection rates but rather provide a summary of key demographic and healthcare indicators for each community that are helpful to informed decision-making. They are in the form of a two-page infographic package and come in pdf, image and HTML files.
