- Unemployment Rates: Compared to the ten most populous states, Florida had the second lowest unemployment rate (6.4 percent) in November 2013. Michigan had the highest unemployment rate (8.8 percent) and Texas had the lowest (6.1 percent).
- Job Counts: Compared to the ten most populous states, Florida (+183,100 jobs) ranked number three in over-the-year job gains. All of the ten largest states added jobs over the year, led by Texas (+274,200 jobs). Ohio gained the fewest jobs over the year (+19,800). Florida and Texas tied with the strongest over-the-year job growth rate among the 10 largest states (+2.5 percent)
- Among all states, Florida had the third largest over-the-year decline in unemployment rate (-1.6 percentage point); and tied with Texas with the second strongest over-the-year job growth rate (+2.5 percent each).
