Putnam County Chamber, Vice President / Director of Economic Development
The Vice President, in conjunction with the Chamber President, is responsible for the creation and implementation of economic development, business retention and business recruitment strategies; to bring capital investment, new businesses, new high wage jobs, and income to Putnam County.
Putnam County boasts tremendous eco-tourism assets and is home to a skilled blue-collar workforce. Putnam features intermodal logistics and a state college. Putnam also has a county controlled business park and barge port.
Desired Job Experience and Expertise:
• Proven experience in economic development with high-level management experience
within the industry
• Strong experience and knowledge of implementation:
• Site Development
• Understanding Development at the fundamental level
• New Business Recruitment
• Existing Industry
• Workforce Development
• Proven ability to assemble and lead a team
• Proven ability to navigate the dynamics of Board of Directors, elected officials, and other
stakeholders and lead them to consensus through education
• Strong communication skills and attention to details
• Ability to inventory existing assets, available property, and programs and develop a plan to
utilize assets
• Knowledge and understanding of economic development operational functions
• Understanding of utility development, policy creation, and funding mechanisms
• Experience working with, and navigating the dynamics of boards of directors, elected
officials, and other stakeholders
• Ability to recommend and implement new programs and initiatives when needed
